Mark is one of the people state-wide awarded permanent total disability benefits from the Second Injury Fund but has not been paid. 2/19/09John was a guest lecturer on the topic of Workers' Compensation at the St. Louis University School of law.
10/7/08John was awarded the Workers' Compensation distinguished lawyer award presented by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and Kid's Chance, Inc. of Missouri. This award is given annually to a member of the claimant's bar, defense bar, or the judiciary for a St. Louis Workers' Compensation attorney "whose honesty, integrity, competence, zeal, selflessness and leadership has earned the respect of the community by practicing law in the manner in which all should."
6/20/08Phil presented a CLE program entitled "The Annual Update on Workers' Compensation Law" at the MATA convention at the Lake of the Ozarks.
2/21/08John was a guest lecturer on the topic of Workers' Compensation at the St. Louis University School of Law.
11/29/07Phil participated in the preparation and presentation of the oral argument regarding the constitutionality of the new worker's compensation law before the Missouri Supreme Court. The decision is pending.
7/3/07The first Industrial Commission case discussing the 2005 definition of accident and "the prevailing factor" was handed down. See Norman v Phelps County Regional Medical Center at the Commissions web site.
6/22/07Phil spoke at the annual MATA Convention at the Lake of the Ozarks updating the members on the years' important workers' compensation Court of Appeals and Supreme Court cases.
10/3/06John was a featured speaker (for the second time) at the 4th Annual Workers' Compensation Distinguished Lawyer Award sponsored by The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and by Kid's Chance Inc. of Missouri - a charitable organization that provides scholarships for the children of workers who have been killed or disabled as a result of work-related injuries.
9/29/06 - 9/30/06Phil attended the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Executive Committee and Board of Governors meetings in Vail, Colorado.
9/19/06John was a participant in a panel discussion regarding recent changes in the Missouri workers' compensation law, presenting the injured workers' viewpoint at a seminar sponsored by the Missouri Self-Insurer's Association. Later that same day, he presented oral argument before the Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals in a workers' compensation claim in a "case of first impression" involving the interpretation of the workers' compensation law's statute of limitations.
6/22/06 - 6/25/06Phil attended the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Annual Convention at the Lake of the Ozarks. There he attended the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Executive Committee and Board of Governors meetings. He also co-presented the annual update of the case law seminar on Workers' Compensation issues.
3/9/06John represented the claimant in a mock trial conducted as part of the final exam for students studying workers' compensation law at St. Louis University School of Law.
2/16/06 - 2/17/06Phil attended the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group Longshore Seminar in San Francisco.
12/2/05Phil attended the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Executive Committee and Board of Governors meetings in St. Louis.
